Cool Rack

'This CO2 Mission Critical Cooling system targets high compaction cooling, particularly focusing on Blade Servers where equipment loads may be in excess of 20kW per cabinet. The system enjoys the high capacity, low energy and electrically benign benefits offered by CO2'.This solution’s cooling capacity is seemingly boundless, currently achieving a staggering 30kW per cabinet, and is expected to increase to between 40-50kW. The system enjoys maximum power efficiencies that can deliver up to 30% energy saving over chilled water alternatives.
The development (patents pending) has caught the imagination of leading-edge users of IT and of their designers who recognise that its utilisation offers a competitive business advantage through adoption and association.

Liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) is electrically benign and non-hazardous to servers and cabling alike; it is perfectly suited for locating adjacent to the rear of ‘high load’ cabinets. CO2 has a phenomenal capacity to remove heat from the server cabinets, and can actually absorb over 7 times more heat than chilled water. The CO2 at 14°C is above room ‘dew point’ to prevent the formation of condensation. High capacity carbon dioxide cooling offers IT users maximum flexibility in the space and optimum cabinet compaction, achieving over 50% space saving over conventional systems'.
